La Tahinn - Do Not Allow Self-degradation

La Tahinn - Do Not Allow Self-degradation

"La Tahinn - Do Not Allow Self-Degradation" is a vibrant and inspiring artwork that celebrates the power of self-respect and dignity. Its bright colors and graceful brushstrokes convey a sense of strength and pride, inviting the viewer to stand tall and hold their head high no matter what the world may throw their way.

At the heart of the piece are poems by Abi Firas Al Hamadani, a renowned poet and cultural figure in the Arab world. These poems speak to the importance of maintaining one's self-respect and dignity, even in the face of adversity. They remind us that no matter what challenges we may face, we must always hold ourselves to a high standard and refuse to allow ourselves to be dragged down by negativity or self-doubt.

Originally created in 1993, "La Tahinn - Do Not Allow Self-Degradation" was originally dedicated to the suffering people of Bosnia and all those who have experienced the horrors of genocide, prejudice, and injustice. Measuring 250cm x 150cm and crafted from acrylic and ink on paper mounted on canvas, this artwork is a powerful and enduring tribute to the human spirit. It currently resides with a private collector in Saudi Arabia, where it continues to inspire and uplift those who view it.

Here is an example poem by Abi Firas Al Hamadani:

I will not allow myself to be dragged down
By the negativity and doubt of others
I will stand tall, with my head held high
For I am a person of dignity and self-respect
No matter what the world may throw my way

And here is an example of a poem about the importance of maintaining one's self-respect:

Do not let the world break you
Do not let it steal your dignity
Stand tall, with your head held high
For you are a person of worth and value
Do not allow yourself to be dragged down
By the negativity and hatred of others
Hold on to your self-respect
And let it guide you through the storm.

Tughra: Whispers of Wisdom: An Artistic Tribute to Abul Ala Al Ma’arri

In his artwork titled "Tughra," Ali Omar Ermes incorporates a powerful verse from the philosopher-poet Abul Ala Al Ma’arri. The verse speaks to the idea that when one speaks of the truth, they must do so softly and with caution, as the truth can often be unpopular or unwelcome. In contrast, when one speaks of things that are implausible or untrue, they can do so loudly and without fear of reprisal. This observation is particularly relevant in today's world, where it is often easier to speak out and make bold claims, regardless of their veracity.
